FULL REPORT OF UCIF's Dawah/Welfare Visitation to Oke Kura Prison Yard, Ilorin, kwara State on the 29th October, 2017

UMMAH CARE FOR THE INMATES FOUNDATION - مؤسسة الأمة لرعايةالسجناء.

In the Name of the Lord of the Great Throne, the All Merciful and the All Caring!

We left our meeting point, Ilorin Central Mosque, Oja Oba, ilorin at around 3:30 pm, and we got to the Prison gate at around 3:55pm. We submitted ourselves and the items we took to the Inmates for proper security checks. After gaining entrance into the premises, we headed straight to the Prison's Masjid, where we performed Solatul Asr together with our Inmates brothers.

Immediately, after the solaah, Bar. Ibn Abdullah As-sudaisiy introduced the group and the Lecturer of the day to the congregation, Ustadh Sirnucy Lafiaji. Ustadh Sirnucy Lafiagi discussed the topic: Having Hope and Trust in Allah and it was scintillating and inspiring. It was translated into Hausa Language by one of the Inmates. Some questions were entertained from the Inmates and the Officers of the Nigerian Prisons, and Ustadh Sirnucy did justice to them with references from Qur'an and Sunnah.

After the lecture and questions and answers, the Welfare Officer of the Prison did a vote of thanks and requested that the UCIF group be visiting them monthly for lectures, especially on tawhid. We therefore suggest that we should be going there to read Kitaab Taoheed on monthly basis and also to teach the female Inmates how to recite the Qur'an.

During the visit, the Prison Welfare Officer led the sisters to the female section of the Prison. One of the sisters gave lecture on the topic: Importance of Faith in the Life of a Muslim. The sister advised the female Inmates on how to live a religious life despite their conditions by praying regularly, doing of tahajud, dhikr, istighfaar, tawbah, reading of the Quran and so on. It was discovered none of the female Inmates could recite the Qur'an. In sha Allah, we hope to make efforts to see how we can help them to learn the Qur'an.
