REPORT ON THE
SUCCESSFUL PAYMENT OF FINE AND RELEASE OF A FEMALE INMATE
Assalam Alaykum Warahmotullahi Wabarakatuh! In continuation of the process of payment of fine and release of a female inmate of the Kirikiri prison, I went down to the mobile court in Oshodi, Lagos, on Tuesday 25th July at about 1PM. I waited several minutes due to the population of others, to verify the details of the inmate and collect the account details. Thereafter I went down to the bank to make payment and was given a receipt in addition to the teller. By Allah's Qadar (Destiny), the registrar who would issue the clearance/release letter had gone home as at when I got back to the court.
I went back two days later, Thursday 27th with the receipt. A clearance/release letter was then issued, which I took back to the prison.
A brother from UCFI Group 1, Mallam Kamaldeen Lawal (KBL), who had earlier messaged me privately came down from his workplace to hook up with me at the prison (May Allah reward his efforts and ours), and together we went forth to submit the clearance letter. They verified it and she was release maa sha Allah. However , at the point of verifying the release letter of this inmate named Fatima umoru, they warned her not to go back begging on the streets where she was initially arrested. After much inquiries from her, she stated that she was from kano and that she came down to lagos with a trailer conveying cows. She also said she was picked up in Iyana Ipaja but that she stays in Iyana Odo, around Igando area of Lagos state. The prison officials suggested that next time we should try to come with someone who can converse in Hausa.
As requested, we were given a list of those with different amount of fines to work with for such subsequent gestures.
Together with Fatima, we left the prison and made our way down to Oshodi where I put her on a bus to Iyana Ipaja because she said she knows her way to Igando from there..Mallam Kamal gave her a certain amount of money (May Allah replenish his source).
I went twice to Oshodi only, once to Ikeja, once to Kirikiri and once to Oshodi/Kirikiri, all from Ikorodu, total cost of transport and photocopies of documents made was N4300. I'll pay 2300 while the foundation pays 2000 in sha Allah.
May Allah forgive my shortcomings all through and reward the efforts of this foundation and indeed all those who have been persistently contributing and helping out one way or another.
Subhaanaka llahumma wa bi hamdihi ashadu anlaailaha illa anta astagfiruka wa atubu ilayk
May Almighty Allah reward you all, Grant you all goodness and make Jannah our final Abode. May Allah in His infinite mercy assist us all and enrich our pockets Aameen.
